Barbara Mitchell Obituary

Mrs. Barbara Ann Goss Mitchell, age 88 of Calhoun, Ga., passed away on Saturday, October 12th, 2024, at The Oaks in Fairmount.

Mrs. Mitchell was born in Gordon County on November 4th, 1935, to the late Ozie "Oz" Goss and the late Pecola Stone Goss. Barbara graduated high school in 1953 and attended Tift College in Forsyth, Georgia until she graduated in 1955. She was a member of the Daughters of The American Colonies and was a member of Belmont Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Mr. John "David" Mitchell Jr.; two sons, John David "J.D." Mitchell III and his wife, Jo Ann and Benjamin "Heath" Mitchell and his fiancé, Kim McEntyre; two grandchildren, Kendra Jolee Stuart (Cody) and Maverick Mitchell; three great-grandchildren, Skylar Spires, Carlie Burke, and Kaylin James.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 15th, 2024, at 11 AM in the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Shaw officiating. Interment will be held at a later date at The Georgia National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Monday, October 14th from 5 PM until 8 PM at the funeral home.
