DEBBIE CLARK Obituary

Debbie Clark (nee Rettig) age 78, dear daughter of the late Maximillian and Martha Rettig (nee Denny); loving mother of Dan Rettig (Kate), and Shelby Clark; grandmother of Bridget and Molly; sister of Kurt Rettig (Kris), and the late Dianne Rettig, Vikki Johnston (Bruce), and Sheri Rettig; aunt of many. Friend of many.

Deborah Maxine Rettig was born July 15th, 1947 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As a child, her family moved to Wyoming, Ohio where she attended elementary to high school and graduated Wyoming High School in 1965. Debbie grew up with a love for animals, particularly horses.

She was married in 1969 and over the following 20 years lived in Cleveland Ohio, Louisville Kentucky and Columbia South Carolina before moving back to Wyoming, Ohio to be with family and friends in 1991 after her divorce. While in South Carolina she went back to school and earned a Bachelors Degree from the University of South Carolina. While back in Cincinnati, she earned a Master's Degree in Counseling from Xavier University. She loved to Garden and eventually became a Master Gardener. Over the next 30 years, Debbie became a dedicated member of The Sierra Club, and League of Women Voters. She also was a longtime member of Garden Park Unity. She loved to donate her time and money to a variety of political, environmental and animal welfare causes.

She loved traveling to National Parks and Monuments and had visited dozens of them, but her favorites were John Muir Woods, Yellowstone NP and The Arches NP.

A memorial service will take place at Garden Park Unity Church, 3581 West Galbraith Rd. Cincinnati, Ohio 45239 on Saturday April 25, 2026 at 11 am.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials in her honor may be made to the Sierra Club, or the League of Women Voters.
