Delilah "Lila" "Dee" Mary Maxwell
Bay City, Michigan
Lila Maxwell, born August 7, 1953 in Bay City, Michigan to the late Ralph and Pauline, died October 9, 2024. She married her best friend and husband John Maxwell, he preceded her in death in 2013. Lila's career began in her teens. One of her first jobs was making candy for St. Laurent Brothers, she carried this craft of making chocolate through life, often involving her loved ones in the process. Later, she was a founding force behind Brian's House where she played a crucial role in its development and success, also serving as president for some years. She was the voice of WJKC FM - 104.7, where she hosted the Polka Party for over 35 years and brought joy to listeners from all over the country. She also worked third shift for 10 years with 7-Eleven before wanting a change and going on to work at Yonkers for many years. She formed countless friendships along the way. Her entrepreneurial spirit kept her busy.
Lila loved her nieces and nephews as if they were her own, always making time to be there for them. She was known for her honesty, directness and unwavering loyalty. She had a unique way of expressing her thoughts and only kept people she loved in her life, never hesitating to set boundaries where needed. Above all, she cherished moments spent with her family. She loved playing cards, bingo and sharing laughter with those she held dear.
Here to cherish her memory are siblings: Ronald (Sandy) Dufresne, Rocky (Karen) Dufesne, Katherine White, Bill Hayward; special friend, Dee Bryce; beloved nieces and nephews: Rosanne Covell, Lisa Dufresne, Lori Dufresne, Matthew Dufresne, Terry Dufresne, Megan Vanvoorhis, Brian Dufresne, Shane Dufresne, Michelle Miller, Trish Darling, Jill Kaake, Tanya Brown, Sara Rybak and many great-nieces and nephew. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Maxwell; father and mother-in-law: Hugh and Isabelle "Jean" Maxwell; siblings: John, Glenn, Ralph, Terry Dufresne and Gwendolyn Kanicki; niece Kimberly Dufresne and nephew Jeffrey White.
A Combined Funeral Service for Delilah and her sister Gwen will be held Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 6:00 PM at Ambrose Funeral Home, 1200 Garfield Ave., Bay City, MI 48708. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home on Saturday, October 26th from 1:00 PM until the time of service.
