Dennis J. Mannigan passed peacefully June 23, 2025 at the age of 66 at his home. He was born September 27, 1958 to Margaret Price and Thomas M. Mannigan III. Dennis spent his childhood growing up in Cape Vincent, NY, attending Cape Vincent Central School.
He married Terry Carpenter Babcock on July 4, 1983, in Dexter, NY.
Dennis worked and learned the auto mechanic trade at Rienbeck’s Garage in Cape Vincent and subsequently was hired and worked for 37 years for New York State DOT until his retirement. After retirement he worked for Green Thumb in the summertime. He served and was very proud to have joined the US Naval Reserves from 1984 through 1991 as PO 1st Class E6, 21st RNCB, Davisville, RI.
Dennis enjoyed hunting and fishing the land and waters of Northern NY. His other passion was attending and watching car racing, especially NASCAR. Much of his fun time was spent in Watkins Glen, NY. He was always loving and caring of his family, especially devoting time to grandchildren, and was affectionately known as “Papa”. Always supportive and best fan of watching their basketball games.
Dennis was predeceased by his infant daughter MystieLynn, grandson William Mannigan, a granddaughter Cheyanne Colwell, and both parents. Surviving are his wife, Terry; daughters Jamie Carpenter, South Carolina, and Jodi Gaffney, North Carolina and son Jeffrey Babcock, Lawton, OK; grandchildren Sarah Mathews, Jason Carpenter, Chantelle Colwell, Dakota Colwell, and Jacey Colwell; and great-grandchildren Isabella Carpenter, Jadon Carpenter, Macson Mathews, Tyson Mathews, and Julia Mathews. As well as sisters,Cynthia Parker (Rolla), Champlain, NY and Melinda Brooks (Greg), West Friendship, MD; brothers Andrew Mannigan, Cape Vincent, NY, Gerald Mannigan (Bobbie), Gouverneur, NY and Donald Mannigan (Debbie), Monkton, VT; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A private celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date at the convenience of the family.
