Dorothy Lenette Moist, 83, of Ovid, Colorado, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2025, at Regent Park Nursing Home in Holyoke, Colorado.
Dorothy was born March 25, 1942, in Ovid to Harry and Rose (Kaiser) Kotch. She graduated from Ovid High School in 1960 and attended nursing school in Denver, where she became a licensed practical nurse (LPN). Dorothy dedicated many years of her professional life working for Dr. Starks, both Sr. and Jr., providing compassionate medical care.
On September 15, 1962, Dorothy married Robert D. Moist at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chappell, Nebraska. They made their home in Denver for two decades, later returning to Ovid in 1977. Upon returning, Dorothy assisted on the family farm, notably driving the beet truck-a task she humorously disliked. Later, she pursued her passion for travel by becoming a travel agent with First Choice Travel out of Sterling, a role she greatly enjoyed. Dorothy and Bob were fortunate to experience many memorable trips together over the years.
Dorothy was known for her meticulous nature and exceptional organizational skills. She had a natural talent for planning and took pride in keeping her home spotless and beautifully decorated. Dorothy was also noted for her elegant style and was always impeccably dressed.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law, Leon Woodhams; nephew, Jeremy Olson.
Survivors include her devoted husband, Bob Moist of Ovid; sisters, Diana Kotch of Denver and Donna McClary Sedgwick; sisters-in-law, Connie Schiel of Chappell, NE, and Rosi Woodhams of Ovid; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends.
Memorial Mass will be held Friday, May 2, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Julesburg, with Fr. Mike O'Brien Celebrating. There will be no burial at this time.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for later designation. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsjulesburg.com, where the service will be streamed live.
