Dorothy Scott,87, a beloved matriarch and a beacon of kindness, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Heritage Inn Health & Rehab. Born on September 6, 1937, in Savannah, Georgia, Dorothy's life was a testament to love, faith, and family.
Dorothy was known for her warm and welcoming personality, always making those around her feel loved and cared for. Her kindness was evident in every interaction, and she held a special place in the hearts of her family and friends. Memories of her are filled with moments spent together, emphasizing her deep commitment to her loved ones.
A devoted member of Maranatha Family Church, Dorothy found strength and purpose in her faith. She cherished her relationship with the Lord above all else, which guided her throughout her life and influenced the nurturing spirit she showed towards others.
In addition to her devotion to family and faith, Dorothy had a love for life that shone through her hobbies. She enjoyed cooking, sharing her delicious recipes with those she adored, and embraced her love of traveling, exploring new places.
Dorothy’s legacy is characterized by the love she shared with her family. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her unwavering compassion and the joyful moments that defined her life.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 72 years, William Nathaniel Scott; daughter, Peggy Gordon; parents, Hardy and Claudia Brown; and brother, Benny Brown.
Survivors include her son, Steve Scott (Sharon) of Springfield; daughter, Sandy Strunk (Charles) of Rincon; son-in-law, George Gordon of Guyton; grandchildren, Terry Scott (Jessica), William Gordon (Aubrey), Angie Nelly, Scott Walton (Tiffany), Amber Walton (Neil), Jessica Tant (Michael), Stephen Walton (Mia), and Christina Rogers; great grandchildren, Delana, Brianna, Makayla, Summer, Trinity, Nalani, Cole, Kyle, Chase, Noah, Addison, Makenzie, Brody, Claudea, and Greyson; great great grandchildren, Waylon and Luna; and many other loving family members and friends.
Visitation will be held at Carlson & Riggs Funeral Home on Friday, October 11, 2024, from 5-7pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 11am in the chapel of Carlson & Riggs Funeral Home with burial to follow in Greenhill Baptist Church Cemetery.
