The Deer Park Walking Man

7/5/1945-5/2/2025

By Dana Taylor (daughter)

Fred Taylor, as I heard him known as the Walking man around Deer Park has taken his final walk. His journey has been almost 80 years long. Along side him before and after their own earth walk were his grandparents walking with him.

He walked with his 3 brothers and 1 sister. All who he walked to talk with. The walking man may have said hello to you in the store, told you he walked to keep his heart healthy. He may have stopped to give your dog a bone on his walk. Dogs always had a special place in his heart. Your pets picture may be in his phone if he stopped to hand a bone. Most of all my father the Deer Park Walking Man walked to talk with God. Walking and talking with the Lord made him a better man in his later years.

Your friend the walking man leaves behind 4 daughters, 9 grandchildren , and about a dozen great grandchildren. Really I'm losing count.

"The Walking Man" by James Taylor is the song that someone said reminded them of my dad. And It brought me the happiest tears. I want everyone to think of him with that song.

I once painted a picture of his beloved puzzle for him. We worked together at the expressway gas station. He always called me when he needed something seed back together like his favorite coat. I'm sorry to hear he passed. My condolences.

My husband and I recently moved to Deer Park, directly across the street from him. He was a really nice neighbor! He and my husband went fishing, which, since they were both up there in years, was a mission for my husband and for Fred.
Fred shared his love of pets, his love for fishing, and his faith on a regular basis with us.
Always a kind smile and often humor to share as we would cross paths on our walks.
It's sad to look at his home and realize Fred will not be heading out on his walks any longer here. That nice Walking Man!
Aloha, Fred!! Who wanted to go fishing with Jesus!

Fred Taylor I'm going to miss you my friend. I'm going to miss our long talks I'm going to miss my lunch buddy. I miss seeing you walk around town, I always offered you a ride but most of the time you would say "no"but if you said "yes" I knew your legs were probably tired!
But most of all I'm going to miss your smile!
I hope you entered the pearly Gates with my mom, as she passed the same day! God has gained a wonderful angel! I will think of you often my friend! Thank you for coming into my life!
