Ginger I. Lee passed away at home September 11, 2024. She was born November 8, 1929 to Dr. and Mrs. R.D. (Bob and Gladys) Ingle. Bob Ingle was the pastor of Berea Baptist Church, which started as a Sunday School class (1921) in the home of her grandparents.
On November 8, 1947 Ginger married her one and only love, U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer Robert F. Lee, who passed suddenly on Nov.1, 1973. She had one dearly beloved sister, Jean I. Kelley who passed on August 22, 2010.
Ginger literally grew up "teaching." At 7 years old, each Sunday, she was allowed to "teach the lesson as her mother had taught her at home" after the regular Sunday School teacher taught. At 15 years old, she had her own class. By 18 years old, she was composing a Bible story with pictures for each Bible chapter, printing them on a mimeograph machine and mailing, at no cost, to 30+ small churches throughout the nation. Thus began a career of teaching teachers in seminars and churches.
As an adult, Ginger earned a B.S. (J.U.) and M.Ed. (Univ. N. Fla.). She was a Validator of Programs and a national speaker for N.A.E.Y.C.( National Association for the Education of Young Children). In 1974, she was part of a small group from Jacksonville University who studied the British Infant Schools in and around London. Later, she was chosen to teach "How the Brain Learns" at national conferences at the University of North Florida, Jacksonville University and other places.
She is especially remembered for her ability to relate to all people and all ages. For 36 years (1982 -2018), it was the joy of her heart to minister to low-income families and children in crisis at Methodist Children's Village (aka Normandy Village United Methodist Day Care Center). With a new class of young children, each year, for 36 years, she produced and presented a unique, one-hour long Christmas program to regular audiences of over 500 people.
On Dec.16, 1984, she became a member of First Baptist Church and continued teaching the Bible in adult classes, preschool, and wherever needed. Most recently a Senior Ladies Bible Class - completing 76 years of teaching. Until her death, she continued to share inspirational "Thoughts for Today" and Bible verses in mail outs, hospitals, doctor's offices and other places.
Survivors include children: LaTrelle (Rande) LeFevre, Bruce (Yoli) Lee, and Dawn Lee; Grandchildren: Kristin Kessler, Zachary Lee, Gina (Elijah) Lackey, Robert (Grace) Lee, Javi Lee and Joshua Lee. Great grandchildren: Georgia, Charlotte and Lila Kessler, Violet Lackey, Max and Ginger Lee. Greatly loved niece Linda (Richard) Kincade and family, nephew Robert (Diane) Kelley and family, and numerous other extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, September 20, 2024 at the Event Center at Peeples Family Funeral Home, 14165 N. Main Street (Building C). The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM prior to the service.
