Howard J. "Buster" Miller, Jr, 72, of Port Matilda, passed away suddenly at his home on Tuesday, June 3, 2025. Born on July 29, 1952, he was the son of the late Howard J. and Bertha (Wehr) Miller, Sr. On May 4, 1974, at Eisenhower Chapel in State College, he married Rebecca F. "Becky" Deppen, who survives at home.
Buster was a 1970 graduate of West Catholic High School in Philadelphia and earned a BS in Architectural Engineering from Penn State University in 1975. He previously worked for Corning Asahi in State College as an Industrial Mechanic and then became a Staff Representative for the United Steel Workers Union.
Buster was of the Catholic Faith. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, looking at cars, and studying military history, and military aircrafts. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Philadelphia Phillies fan. While at Penn State, Buster played football, and he continued to be a huge PSU football fan. He liked attending baseball games and NASCAR with his son.
Buster is survived by his wife, Becky; two children: Devon L. Miller-Merza and her husband, Joseph, of Marysville, WA and John H. Miller and his fiancé, Leslie Bellucci, of Spruce Creek. He is also survived by is siblings: Pauline Parker, Fred Miller and his wife, Patricia, and Sheila Miller all of Philadelphia.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, from 10am – 12noon followed by a funeral service at noon at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Milesburg with Father Joshi Narisetti officiating. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to PAWS, 1401 Trout Road, State College, PA 16801.
