James "Bubby" Franklin Dent, 86, of Page passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at CAMC Memorial Hospice Care in Charleston, WV.
Born March 3, 1938 in Carbondale, WV he was the son of the late Oather Bays and LydiaBelle Canterbury Dent.
James worked in the coal mines and was a proud United States Army Veteran. In his leisure he enjoyed watching Nascar especially Dale Earnhardt, enjoyed playing Bingo, Playing Hearts on the Computer, he had a green thumb and loved plating flowers in his garden. Most of all he loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren who meant the world to him.
Along with his parents he is also preceded in death by many brothers and sisters.
Those left to cherish his wonderful memory include his loving wife, Tena Bunting Dent; son, James "Jimmy" Dent (Marlo); daughter, Susan Rakes (Brian); grandchildren, Tena Gee, Kourtney Dent, Hannah Settle (Mike), Brooklyn Williams, Miranda Oyewole (Tobi), and Jordan Pierson; great grandchildren, Kaygen Clement, Raylee Clement, Easton Bess, and Kenzleigh Suttle; brother, Paul Dent; and sister, Elizabeth Brown; and many special nieces and nephews.
Graveside service with burial to follow will be 2;00 PM on Sunday, February 2, 2025 at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens in Oak Hill with Pastor Jim Elmore officiating.
Visitation for friends will be from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM at the funeral home in Oak Hill on Sunday, February 2, 2025.
Pallbearers will be Brian Rakes, Mike Suttle, Koty Sawyers, Benny Colagrosso, Jamie Stump, and Eric Canaday.
