Jeanine Nielsen Greenhalgh concluded her beautiful earthly life on August 8, 2025. She was born December 2, 1946 in Payson, Utah. Her parents were Lauritz ‘Shock’ and Fern Nielsen. She was very proud to call Spring Lake, Utah her childhood home, where she lived on a farm with her horse named Molly and dog Rocket. She enjoyed gardening with her father. She was the middle child of three; between Mabeth Nielsen Southwick and LaVar Nielsen. She was preceded in death by her parents and both siblings. She graduated from Payson High School in 1965.

The universe was forever changed when the two worlds of Donald and Jeanine collided. They were married January 14, 1966 and spent the last 59 years adventuring together. Together they raised four children, Tammy (Dan) Marlowe, RaNee (Dan) Belmont, Kevin (Jodi) Greenhalgh, and Melanie (Allen) Duke. Jeanine was a skilled seamstress who crafted intricate Halloween costumes, dresses and many baby blankets and towels. She was a talented bowler with the most unique approach. She and Donald travelled the country attending bowling tournaments along the way with a great group of friends. Jeanine was a member of the Moose Lodge. In their retirement years, Donald and Jeanine joined the Good Sam’s Club who eventually became the Sun Chasers RV Club. They spent a lot of time on camp outs with their friends and winters ‘snow birding’ down South. Jeanine found large amounts of friendship and joy in the relationships she built there.

Jeanine was the epitome of being a grandma. Lovingly referred to as Grandma Jeans, Grandma Duck and most recently Grandma Great, a title she rightfully earned. She had 10 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren—often reminding the grandchildren that she would like many more. She spent as much time as possible with the kids, frequenting sporting events, dance recitals, school events, and everything in between. She loved her family immensely and was happiest in their company. Jeanine was a true matriarch, leading the family with firm grace. When she had an idea in her head, she carefully delegated tasks until her thought was a reality. The day she discovered HGTV was a bad day for Donald. She was known for rearranging, encouraging large painting projects, and suggesting walls be moved; load bearing wall or not. At one point, the hammer had to be hidden from her. Grandma was any shade of purple, homemade tapioca pudding or potato salad, a “hello Miss Muffet” as you walked in the door, the world’s best cheerleader, and a helping hand anytime you needed it.

A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 1:00-3:00 PM at the Peteetneet Academy, 10 North 600 East, Payson, Utah 84651. A family graveside service will be held at the Santaquin City Cemetery.
