Jerome Schiltz Obituary

JACKSONVILLE - Jerome (Jerry) Schiltz, passed away on October 1, 2024, at home surrounded by family. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Loretta and Joseph Schiltz, wife of 57 years Patrica Schiltz, sister Elaine Roeth, and son Ricky Schiltz.
Jerry is survived by his brother Roger (Kitty) Schiltz, his children Gary (Donna) Schiltz, Debbie (Dale) Cross, Marsha Schiltz and Sue Brosman. Grand children Krystal (Ryan) Trinkler, Andrew (Fon) Jungers, Tj (Shannon) Schiltz, Matt (Dawn) Cross, Jessica Schiltz, April (Andrew) Orr, Sean (Nicole) Schiltz, Dan (Shelby) Cross, Annie (Kevin) Sauer and 14 great grandchildren with two more expected.
Jerry was born October 4, 1934, in Dubuque, Iowa. Jerry worked at The Dubuque Packing Company for 29 years. He married the love of his life Patricia Strader in 1956 at Holy Ghost Church in Dubuque Iowa. In 1985 he moved to Jacksonville and as an entrepreneur started Hawkeye Auto Sales. He was known by many as "Hawkeye" and was a successful business owner of Hawkeyes for over 30 years. He will always be remembered for his one liners and witty humor. Jerry was happiest spending time with his family, treating his grand kids to ice cream and fishing on Mille Lacs Lake. Jerry was a devout Catholic and was greeted in Heaven by his lovely wife Pat and beloved son Ricky.
Visitation will be held on what would have been his 90th birthday, October 4th at 2:00 PM at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville Chapel. Celebration of Life will be held immediately following the visitation at 3:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of giving flowers, the family asks instead for memorials be made Infant of Prague Catholic Church.
