John William Okuly, 51, of Holgate, Ohio passed away on January 3, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter and cherished memories. John was born on June 5, 1973 to the late Ignatius W. (Bill) and Mary Jane (Beavers) Okuly. John was a 1992 graduate of Holgate High School. John is survived by his mother; Mary Okuly, sisters: Anne (Mike) Sharpe of Liberty Center, Cindy (James) Kidd of Bainbridge, Ohio, Betsy (Jeff) Gibson of Napoleon, and Lucy Brown of Defiance. Nieces and Nephews: Joe and Wesley Sharpe; Molly (Sam) Church; William Meade; Eli Phillips; David Kidd; Chloe Kidd; Maci Jo and Levi Sparks. Great-niece:Olivia Buchholz. John was preceded in death by his father: Ignatius W.(Bill) Okuly.
John was employed at Sauder Woodworking, Napoleon Lynx and recently at Dana-Napoleon. John was an avid golfer, diehard Dallas Cowboys and Ohio State Buckeyes fan. John loved spending time with his family and friends. John’s humor was one of a kind and never failed to make you laugh. He was always the “Life of the Party”.
Visitation for friends and family will be held at the Zachrich Family Funeral Home in Holgate on Thursday, January 9, 2025 from 1:00 pm – 7:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held for John at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Holgate with Father Nick Cunningham officiating on Friday, January 10, 2025 beginning at 10:30 am., with visitation at the church, one hour prior at 9:30 am. Interment will immediately follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Holgate. Memorial contributions in John’s honor may be gifted to the family or Holgate Fire Department.
