It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Judy Lynn Longley-Melton, age 54, who departed this life on October 17, 2024. Judy was a loving wife, devoted mother, and cherished member of her family. She was surrounded by her family and friends, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness that touched the lives of everyone who knew her.
Born on January 25, 1970, to John and Onecia Longley, Judy grew up in Polk County, Tennessee, where she graduated from Polk County High School as part of the Class of 1988. Her dedication to her family and community was evident throughout her life, including her service as a Deputy Clerk at the Bradley County Courthouse. Judy’s warm spirit made her a beloved figure among her colleagues and the many people she helped over the years.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Cecil and Etheleen Couey, and Fred and Amy Longley, both of whom she held dear in her heart.
Judy is survived by her loving husband, Christopher “Ranger” Melton, and her son, John Thomas Lovell, both of whom were the light of her life. She is also survived by her mother, Onecia Longley, her father, John Longley, her brother, John Tyler Longley, her sister, Kimberly Longley, and her daughter, Holly Melton. Judy adored her grandchildren, Peyton and Emma Melton, and was a proud aunt to her niece, Madeline Longley, and nephews, Cameron, Brock, and Garrett Longley.
Judy will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her strong work ethic, and her ability to bring joy to those around her. She had a heart full of generosity, always willing to lend a hand or share a kind word. Her bright smile and compassionate spirit will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
