Julie Ann "Mamma Jamma" (Wilson) Swope, 71, of Gridley, IL passed peacefully at 4:05pm, Saturday April 26th, surrounded by her loving children and close friends.
Julie was born on June 23rd, 1953 at BroMenn Hospital to Carthol Boyd and Ruth Ann (Herrington) Wilson. She married James H. Swope of Gridley, IL on January 15th, 1972. As her former spouse and friend, he survives.
Julie enjoyed doing anything related to art, being creative, cooking, Basset Hounds, or being outdoors. She could always been seen at her favorite camping spot #125 with her kids and all their friends at Comlara Park in her younger years or down at Fork Lake running the bait shop for one of the local RV and Campgrounds in her older years. Julie also had a huge passion for flowers, mainly Orchids. At one point she had over 500 plants, flowers, and/or orchids in her home. Aside from her 3 children, her other loves were her handsome bassets, Beauford, Winslow, and Chief. Julie had many nicknames through the years but her children called her Mamma Jamma and others knew her as Mom #2, Lady J, J-Bird, or Ms. Julie.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Carthol Boyd and Ruth Ann (Herrington) Wilson; Brother, Bruce Alan Wilson; Grandparents, Roscoe and Zona Elizabeth Wade Wilson, Wilson and Blanche Kryder Herrington; son-in-law John David "Big Pappa" Kroell; pets, Winslow and Beauford.
Surviving are her amazing children; Barbara A. Swope of Dunlap, Jonathan J. (Jennifer) Swope of Mackinaw, Summer L. Kroell of Forest City/Gridley, her grandchildren; Noah Peterlin, Maniyah Swope, Devon Swope, Colin Swope, and Brody Swope, her siblings: Laurie (Scott) Herlickman, Brian Wilson, Megan (Paul) Thimmig, Steve (Diane) Wilson; her Australian sister, Cathy (David) Boyce, 2 Nephews and 1 Niece; Russell Wilson, Stephen Wilson, and Ashley (Wilson) Loehr, pets; Chief (beefy chiefy) and several other family members and friends.
The family will be holding a Celebration of Life, a Camping Trip, and a private ceremony at a later date. In lieu of flowers, condolences or monetary funds can be sent to the address below:
