Kenneth Nachem, cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at the age of 81. He was born on July 4, 1943, in Bronx, NY, son of the late Max and Molly Nachem.
Mr. Nachem graduated from Stuyvesant High School in 1960 before attending City College of New York, where he majored in English and earned his BA in 1964. He furthered his education with an MBA from Baruch College, also in New York. Mr. Nachem was a proud veteran, having honorably served in the US Marine Corps. Following his active service, he transitioned to the Marine Corps Reserve, where he continued to serve with honor and distinction.
In 1969, he married Judith Abramowitz in New York City. In 1972 they welcomed a daughter, Elizabeth Nachem. In 1978 they welcomed a son, Jeffrey Nachem. In 1983 Ken and Judy parted ways after 14 years of marriage.
In 1986, Mr. Nachem married Maureen Andrews in New York City. They had a loving marriage that was cut short when Maureen became ill. Ken took care of Maureen in her final months of life, until her death in 1993, and looked after Maureen's daughter from a prior marriage, Lorri-Ann Dobbins, for the next few years.
On December 6, 1998, Ken married Irene Dmitroca at the beautiful Old Mill Inn Spring Lake, NJ. They had a loving home filled with joy and laughter. Together, they traveled the world. When Ken eventually retired, they enjoyed more time together, and eventually built a wonderful new life together in Delaware.
Mr. Nachem had a distinguished career at Citigroup, where he rose to become a Vice President of Business Operations. His dedication and professionalism left a lasting impact on his colleagues and the industry.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mr. Nachem was a man of many passions. He loved bicycling, golf, billiards, and chess. Mr. Nachem enjoyed playing bocce ball and tennis, and he cherished sailing on weekends. A regular at the gym, he valued staying active and fit. Mr. Nachem also loved to travel and kept up with friends and family, sharing stories and laughter. He was an avid reader, especially of spy novels, and enjoyed watching movies with his kids that sparked his imagination. Mr. Nachem touched the hearts of so many and inspired with his passion for life and dedication to family and friends. He will be deeply and genuinely missed.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Nachem was predeceased by his 2nd wife, Maureen Nachem; his stepson through Irene, Michael Maczynski; and his sister, Ann Janowitz.
Mr. Nachem is survived by his wife, Irene Nachem; his children: Elizabeth Nachem, Jeff Nachem with wife Caroline and grandchildren Eliana and Zev Nachem; his stepdaughter through Irene, Melanie Iannace, with husband Vince and grandchildren Jack, Travis and Courtney Stoerrle ; his stepdaughter through Maureen, Lorri-Ann King, and grandchildren Evie and Jack King; his former wife, Judith Nachem; his brother Ira Nachem with wife Auden Groggins; and Bill Janowitz, his brother-in-law through his sister Ann.
