Kessler Eugene Brewster, Silver Lake, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 18, 2024. Gene was born on November 18, 1932 in Kansas City, KS. He was the son of Joseph Kessler Brewster and Mamie Taylor. He graduated from Turner High School in Kansas City, KS and enlisted in the U.S. Navy.
Gene married the love of his life, Winifred McCoid Brewster on June 9, 1956 in Miami, OK and they enjoyed 68 years together. She survives of the home. Gene is also survived by his daughter, Laurie Johnson (Dennis), son, Patrick Brewster (Andrea) both of Silver Lake, KS. Four grandsons, Rick Horton (Jennifer), Jason Brewster (Julie), Justin Brewster (Christine) and Joe Brewster (Lolly), a step grandson, Heath Johnson, a step granddaughter, Julie Lane (Bob) and 18 great-grandchildren.
Gene enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved attending their sporting events. He was one of their biggest fans.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Brewster, William Brewster, James Taylor and sister, Nettie Ferguson, as well as son, Michael Brewster.
Gene was a member of the Masonic Lodge #50, Arab Shrine, the American Legion and the Silver Lake United Methodist Church.
The family will greet friends from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at the Parker-Price & Davidson Funeral Home, 245 NW Independence, Topeka, KS. The service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 22, 2024 at the Silver Lake United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Silver Lake Cemetery.
