SERVICE FOLDER -- SERVICE PHOTOS -- LAURENE'S FUNERAL
Laurene Kaiser, 106, of Hoven, SD, died Friday, May 30, 2025 at the Bowdle Nursing Home.
Laurene Margaret Arbach, daughter of Rose (Hoffman) and Mike M. Arbach, was born on a farm two miles north of Hoven, Walworth County, on April 17, 1919. When she was 11, the family moved to a farm seven miles west of Hoven. Until that time, she was attending St. Bernard's Parochial School at Hoven. Following the move, she completed her education at Swan Lake Rural School. After her schooling, Laurene stayed at home to help her mother with the younger children and housework. For seven years, beginning at age 17, she worked as a hired girl at neighboring farms. Laurene married Hubert J. Kaiser at St. Anthony's Catholic Church on June 9, 1943. They settled with Hubert's parents on their farm three miles east of Hoven in Edmunds County. In 1945, the elder Kaisers moved from the farm and Hubert and Laurene took over the operation. They remained on the farm until 1988 when they moved into Hoven. Laurene was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and the Lady Foresters. She loved to do counted cross stitch, sew, and made many quilts over the years. She also enjoyed cooking, playing cards, baking cookies, and playing scrabble.
Laurene is survived by eight sons-Donald Kaiser and Gerald P. Kaiser of Pierre, SD, Walter (Carolyn) Kaiser of Faulkton, SD, Conald (Laurel) Kaiser and Kevin (Lori) Kaiser of Tolstoy, SD, Harvey (Mary) Kaiser of Toms River, NJ, Richard (Noel) Kaiser of Hoven, Joseph (Tish) Kaiser of Sioux Falls, SD; five daughters-Clara Kaiser of Sioux Falls, Carol Holton of Victoria, MN, Bernadette (Neil) Schlepp of Rapid City, SD, Rosemary (Mike) Nickolas of Aberdeen, SD, and Mary Lynn (Loel) Rieger of Bowdle; one sister, Bette Rose Brotzel of Billings, MT; sister-in-law, Janice Sayler of Eureka, SD; 27 grandchildren; and 34 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert, on March 4, 2002; her parents, Mike and Rose; one son, Michael, on June 11, 1979; two sisters, Clara (Urban) Rader and Viola (Harold) Breen; four brothers-Paul (Irene) Arbach, Clarence (Beatrice) Arbach, Norbert (Mary Joan) Arbach, and Jerome Arbach; brother-in-law, Lawrence Brotzel; daughter-in-law, Roberta Kaiser; son-in-law, Patrick Holton; four grandchildren-Baby Boy Kaiser, Joshua Kaiser, Chance Rieger, and Rob Kaiser; and two great grandchildren-Helen Lesnar and Bridger Kaiser.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Hoven, with Father J. Joseph Holzhauser, Celebrant. Interment follows at the Church Cemetery. Musicians will be Margaret Bobby and St. Anthony's Church Choir; Vocal selections will be "Only a Shadow", "One Day at a Time",
"Hail Mary, Gentle Woman", 815 "Song of Farewell", and "Carry Me Home"
Mass server will be great grandson Wyatt Huber; Offertory gift bearers will be granddaughters-Carrie Kaiser, Lori Kaiser, and Katie Gifford; Lector will be Colleen Hageman; Eucharistic Minister will be Bob Keller; and placing the pall on Laurene's casket will be her daughters-Clara, Carol, Bernadette, Rosemary, and Mary Lynn.
Visitation commences 4:00 PM Monday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Hoven, with a 5:00 PM Wake Service.
Honorary bearers will be the Bowdle Nursing Home Staff.
Casketbearers will be Tom Kaiser of Warner, SD; Jeremy Kaiser and Reid Kaiser of Hoven; Erik Kaiser of Volga, SD; Jeff Nickolas of Plymouth, MN; and Isaac Kaiser of Aberdeen.
