Lois June Compaan, 86, of Lebanon, Pennsylvania, died Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Cedar Haven Healthcare Center.
She was the widow of Robert Claes Willem Compaan. They celebrated 19 years of marriage on September 24, 2024.
Born in Lakeview, Michigan, on March 23, 1939, she was a daughter of the late James Elmer and Vivian Lorraine (Buikema) Hollenbeck.
Lois completed high school at Rift Valley Academy in Kenya, attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Alvernia College in Reading, Pennsylvania.
She was the Assistant to the Mayor of Lansing, in Michigan, and had several years of experience as a registered nurse in Pennsylvania.
Lois was a devoted Christian involved in church choirs and playing the flute. She participated in missionary outreach in East Kenya and, more recently, at Mfangano Island with her sister Ruth. Her favorite Bible verse was Jeremiah 29:11.
She enjoyed piano, reading, scrapbooking, and cross stitching. She also climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa.
Lois was a loving mother and grandmother, preceded in death by her beloved son, Daniel Paul Wise.
She is survived by sons, David Allan, husband of Cynthia Wise, & Douglas Michael, husband of Jeanne Wise; grandchildren, Laura, Amber, Matthew, Rebecca, Ashley, & Douglas; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth, wife of Ron Durie; Deborah, wife of the late Jerry Tickner; brother, Robert, husband of Joanne Hollenbeck; and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, May 18, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Grose Funeral Home, Inc., 358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown, Pennsylvania. Visitation will begin at 12.
