Loretta Edwards Hefka (Tommye), aged 97, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2024 at her home in Clinton Township, Michigan. She was born on August 17, 1927 in Owensboro, Kentucky to Margaret and Frank Edwards. Tommye grew up in Detroit, graduating from Northwestern High School. She married Dr. Robert N. Hefka on May 5, 1951. She was primarily a homemaker but enjoyed exploring a wide range of interests, including cooking, hat making, candy making, tennis, and needlework. She also acted as a Girl Scout leader. Tommye served for many years on the board of the Fraser Public Library, later earning an Associates degree in Library Science at Macomb County Community College. She was a long-time member of the Sigma Beta sorority, a charitable organization. She loved to read, travel, and watch British mysteries. She loved the ballet and Bluegrass music. She loved dogs and feeding the birds. She loved art museums, shopping, and corn on the cob. She was a loyal friend and loving parent. Tommye is survived by her three children, Barbara, Robin (Lucille), and Deborah; three grandchildren, Molly (Sinuhe) Perez, Elizabeth and Riford; and cousins and friends.
