Born on April 12, 1954, in Moultrie, Georgia, he was the son of the late Van Lee Gunn and Nellie Dean Wills Gunn. Monty dedicated many years of his life to farming, working the land with a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for the simple beauty of rural life. Even in retirement, his love for the land remained an important part of who he was.
He was an avid hunter, with deer hunting being one of his greatest passions. He also had a love for speed and spent many exciting days behind the wheel of a race car. Whether he was casting a line while fishing or watching his favorite Westerns, Monty found joy in the outdoors and the things he loved most.
Known for his giving spirit, Monty was always ready with a helping hand. He had the biggest heart, and his kindness left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Friends and family will remember him for his warmth, his loyalty, and his readiness to help others, no matter the need.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, David Turner.
He is survived by loving and devoted wife, Gloria Ellen Saunders Gunn; children, Tori Gunn, Christie Suggs and husband HA, and Brian Turner and Amy Edelbach; grandchildren, Ivey Adkins, Nash Walden, Blake Mercer, Rylee Gaddy, Jayce Gaddy, Dawson Gaddy, Josey Turner, and Korbin Turner; and brothers, Bruce Gunn and wife Linda, and Kennyon Gunn and wife Linda; sister, Debbie Gunn; numerous nieces and nephews.
