Myrtle E. Kleiner, age 86 of Elkland, PA passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Elmira, NY on December 22, 1937 and was a daughter to the late Clifford George and Eva Lorena (Harvey) Carpenter. Myrtle was also known by her family as "Sooky", a childhood nickname that stuck around.
Myrtle worked at several different jobs throughout her life. From the Artistic Card Company in Elmira, NY, to the Dress Factory in Elkland, then Wundies Undies followed by Truck Lite both in Wellsboro, PA, then she worked at the Westfield Child Development and lastly she was a childcare provider at the Lawrenceville Child Center. In 1986 at the age of 49 years old, Myrtle received her GED and she was beyond proud of that accomplishment. She was known to be crafty and enjoyed sewing; having made several dresses for Angeline Davis and other women in the Elkland area in the 70's. Myrtle also loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Flossie (John) Orchowski, Alice (Mark) Resue, and David (Karen) Baker; grandchildren, Kristina (Michael) Zimmerman, Kayla (Richard) Howard, Mark Baker, Destiny (Stephen) Wahl, Michael (Alexis) Baker and Trevor (Lauryn) Resue; great-grandchildren, Scott, Andrew, Collin, Kalel and Maelyn Zimmerman, Sydney and Braelyn Howard, Everett Baker and Baby Montana Faith Wahl who is due October 12th. Myrtle is also survived by her sister, Erma Jean Corey of Elmira, NY; brother-in-law, Alan Comfort; special friend, Jackie Gridley; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by both her parents, Clifford and Eva Carpenter; 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
Family and friends are called to Kenyon Funeral Home in Elkland, PA on Monday, September 30th from 11:00am - 1:00pm. A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm with Reverend Harry Dow officiating. She will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery, Elkland. Arrangements are in the care of Kenyon Funeral Home, Inc.
