Olive Faye Hutchinson, 82, of Onemo, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital in Gloucester, Virginia. Faye was a 1960 graduate of Mathews High School, class historian and May Queen. She was a member of Bethel Church of Mathews, President of the Virginia Branch of the King’s Daughters and Sons, President and Charter member of the Chesapeake Bay Circle of the King’s Daughters and Sons and a member of Oriental Chapter No. 30, OES of Mathews. She was a medical secretary for Dr. Richard Bowles, owner of Faye’s Secretarial Service for 20 years and after retirement worked part-time for Mathews Insurance Agency, Inc., Mathews.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents, Wilson and Pearl Hutchinson; her lifelong friend, Gary Wayne Brownley of Mathews; many aunts and uncles and cousins, Hart Hudgins, Cecil Foster, Debbie Diggs and Ronald Ripley of Mathews and Sheldon Raye Foster of Middlesex.
She is survived by her uncle, John Robert Pierce, cousins, Sherwood Foster of Bracey, Virginia, Rickey Ripley and Linda Rowe of Gloucester, Virginia, David Hudgins, Brenda Sue Robbins, Valerie Bass and “special sisters”, Phyllis Buchanan and Violet Brownley, all of Mathews, Virginia, as well as many other cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday, April 21, 2025 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Church of Mathews, 1459 Garden Creek Road, Onemo, Virginia. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the church. Interment will follow at St. Paul Annex Cemetery, Susan, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chesapeake Bay Circle of the King’s Daughters and Sons, P.O. Box 514, Port Haywood, Virginia 23138 or to Bethel Church of Mathews, c/o Nancy Rowe, P.O. Box 1104, Mathews, Virginia 23109.
