Peter Battista Obituary

Peter "Pete" Louis Battista III, 57, of Hendersonville, NC, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2024. Peter was born in Lebanon, Ohio, on July 1, 1967, and was a resident of Hendersonville, NC, for 47 years. He graduated from Hendersonville High School in 1986, and attended Florida State University, where he was a member of the water ski team.
Peter will always be remembered for his kind nature, his gentle heart, and his ever-present love for laughter and rock and roll. He saw the good in everyone. He was frequently described as never knowing a stranger and was uplifting to everyone he met. We will all miss Peter's captivating laugh and jovial nature, but are comforted in knowing he is "Hanging Ten With Jesus" in the historic Oakdale Cemetery, a place he frequently visited to pray and meditate.
Peter is survived by his beloved only child, Brooke Lenore York, 28, of Hendersonville, NC, his father, Peter Louis Battista Jr, of Hendersonville, NC, and his three siblings, Laurie (Clint) Hubbard of Rome, GA, Christopher (Annie) Battista of Hendersonville, NC, and Mary Howard of Naples, FL. Peter is also survived by three nieces, Allison, Christina, and Sarah Caitlin, and one nephew, Raleigh. He was proceeded in death by his loving mother, Linda Dawson Battista.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 19, at 2:00 pm, at Oakdale Cemetery. Following the ceremony, the family will receive friends and loved ones for a celebration of Peter's life at Hannah Flanagan's. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Interfaith Assistance Ministries of Hendersonville, NC.
