Robert McDermott Obituary

Robert J. McDermott, age 77 of Oakmont, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on May 16, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul H. Sr. and Helen C. McDermott; and 8 siblings, Paul H. McDermott Jr., Patricia Gavlik, Margaret Lamperski, Michael McDermott, John McDermott, Eileen Feerst, Theresa Deak and James McDermott.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Carol Yuhaschek McDermott and son, Ryan M. McDermott; and 3 siblings, Daniel (Kathryn) McDermott, Helen (late David) Taylor, Kevin (late Debra) McDermott, and many nieces and nephews, who affectionately loved their Uncle Bobby.
Bob was a proud and decorated U.S. Army veteran who served his country in the Vietnam War. He was a talented artist and loved to sing, especially doo-wop. His generosity knew no bounds. Bob's family was his top priority, which led him to be the champion planner of annual family reunions and memorable St. Patrick's Day parties. He also hosted a breakfast feast the following day for all to attend. He epitomized the beatitude "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God".
A celebration of Bob's life will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025, from 2 – 6 p.m. at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC., at 421 Allegheny Ave. Oakmont PA 15139. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or your favorite charity.
