Rodney Lee Farley, was born on April 23, 1961 in Greogry County, South Dakota, To Ralph and Jeanean (Colson) Farley. He was the third of five sons.

Rod received his education in Winner, South Dakota, graduating with the Class of 1979. During his high school years, he worked alongside his father at Edward's Oil, where he developed a strong work ethic and lifelong appreciation for hard work.

In 1988, Rod began dating the love of his life, Colleen Curnyn. The couple later married on March 5, 1999, in Las Vegas, Nevada and together built a life centered around family, love, and unwavering support for their children.

Rod was a devoted father to Tonielle, Joseph "JD" and Nathan "Nate". His greatest joy in life was being present for his children. He never missed a game, performance, or event unless it meant supporting another child at a different activity. He proudly followed his children through their high school and college years, always cheering them on from the sidelines.

Rod spent his career in the agricultural industry whether he was delivering feed to consumers in the countryside for Edward's Oil or running the elevator for CHS before pursing his entrepreneurial spirit and starting his own grain and trucking business. Even after retiring in 2020 due to health reasons, he continued to farm near Witten, staying connected to the land he loved.

As his family grew, Rod and Colleen embraced their role as grandparents with the same dedication. They traveled often whether to Wyoming for basketball games and cheerleading events, to Minnesota for birthdays, or across southeastern South Dakota for concerts and school activities. Family was always the priority.

Rod had a deep love for the outdoors and was rarely without a project, often found in his well-organized and "infamous" shop. He treasured family traditions, including the annual pheasant hunting weekend, celebrating St. Patrick's Day in Iowa, and Christmas gatherings filled with laughter and memories.

Camping was another passion of Rod's. In earlier years, he enjoyed camping with his children, and in recent years, he found renewed joy in weekend camping trips with his grandchildren. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, Rod could be found at the campsite, faithfully tending a very large camp fire and making sure snack were always close at hand for the grandkids.

Rod was an avid bowler and was known for his skill on the lanes, participating in league play and earing a reputation as a great competitor and teammate.

Rodney will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, his love of the outdoors, and the boisterous but steady presence he brought to all who knew him.

Rod was preceded in death by his dad, Ralph Farley; his step-dad Vernon "Pitts" Jaros; his step-brother Terry "TJ" Jaros; his parents-in-law JP & Marilyn Curnyn and his brother-in-law, Tom Curnyn.

Rod is survived by his wife, Colleen along with his children: Tonielle & James and their children Kelel and Laylla; JD & Tara and their children Hayden, River, Kimber, and Hattie; Nate & Tiff and their son Jace. He is also survived by his mother, Jeanean Jaros and his four brothers: Robert & his wife Kim; Randy & his wife Roxanne; Roger & his wife Mary; and Russell; his step-sister, Carol Kerner along with Colleen's family: Mike, Mary, Pat & Melinda and Tim & Rebecca; his aunts Connie Moffitt, Linda Colson, Bea Colson and Elizabeth Farley; many cousins, nieces, nephews and his faithful companion Ryder.
