Rose Marie Cobbler Blaylock formerly of Oak Ridge, NC, and currently Madison, NC, went into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Friday, December 20, 2024, with her son holding her hand. She was born in 1946 to Elmer Lee Cobbler and Pearl Estelle Loy Cobbler in Forsyth County. A devout Christian, she loved serving her Lord and Savior through worship and song. She visited nursing homes in local areas and would sing to the elderly residents. She also sang and played her autoharp at Mayodan Church of God where she attended worship services. She leaves behind her loving family, but also departs from a devoted friend, Darlene Murphy, who assisted Rose in a tough time after a stroke left her partially paralyzed.
Rose never overcame the departure of her beloved husband, Pete. Their bond, too, was unlike any other. She sorely mourned his passing until her final day on this earth. During this difficult and trying time she never wavered in her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. She would always say, "It rains on the just and the unjust." She was a rock in her Christian faith.
She had 10 siblings to whom she was especially devoted. A special bond unlike other families; Ralph Cobbler, Edna Cobbler, Cleo Stack, Bobby Cobbler, Peggy Broadstreet, Donald Cobbler, Richard Cobbler, all of whom have preceded her in death. Surviving are sisters Virginia Cummings, Brenda Stigall (Joe), and Shirley Holden (Jim). She was also preceded in death by her late husband of 60 years Charles Thomas "Pete" Blaylock. She is survived by her three loving children, Tisha Pruett (Jeff), Charles "Bud" Blaylock, Jr. (Stephanie), and Scott Blaylock (Cami). Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Joshua, Ashely, Jessica, Emily, Sage, Cameron, Tanner, and Kaelyn; and four great grandchildren, Aiden, Sophia, Elijah, and Ace.
A funeral service for Rose will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Charles Green and Rev. David Price officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 1:45 pm prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation be made to St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital or to the Mayodan Church of God in Mayodan, NC.
