Ella Sue Whorton Smith, 85, of London, Arkansas, died Friday, April 18, 2025, at her home in London. She was born Dec. 9, 1939, in London to Elvis and Margaret Jewel (Vinson) Whorton, and was born in the same house where her father was born in 1917.
She married her high school sweetheart, Don Smith on Oct. 4, 1957, in Pottsville. She was retired from service as a postmaster and was a longtime member of Martin Chapel Assembly of God.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Sandra Margaret Smith Vitols. Survivors include her husband, Don Smith of London; two sons, Keith Smith of Dyer and Brian Smith (Robert Lowry) of Little Rock ; 10 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild, two sisters-in-law, Shirlene White of Russellville and Linda Willis (Dick) of Arkadelphia.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at East Point Cemetery in Russellville, with the Rev. Jerry Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow at East Point Cemetery, under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
