Thomas Michael Norman, beloved child of God, entered into eternity on November 26, 2024. Tom was born January 3, 1937, in Coshocton, Ohio, to Thomas Carter Norman and Dorothy Jean Brewer Norman. He forever bled the red and white of Ohio State University.
Tom moved to Denver, Colorado, where he worked for Dow Chemical. He loved story telling especially stories about his volunteer search and rescue adventures with the Rocky Mountain Civil Air Patrol. Tom met Marilyn DeWitt in Colorado, they married in 1967, and moved to Zeeland, Michigan, in 1972.
Tom worked for Bil-Mar foods in Zeeland. He served on the Zeeland Township Board. He enjoyed golfing (hunting for golf balls in the brush), playing tennis, fishing and was an avid collector of whatever struck his fancy. He volunteered for Housing Opportunities Made Equitable, the Boy Scouts of America, and his church. At every opportunity, he cheered and supported his family in their activities.
Tom loved his family and is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marilyn DeWitt Norman, his son, Michael DeWitt Norman (Mary Ritsema), daughter Julie Renee Norman Grimes (Dale Grimes), grandchildren: Megan Grimes Frenette (Corbin), Mackenzie Norman Avink (Troy), Madison Norman, Sarah Grimes, Emily Grimes, Rachel Grimes and Danny Siterlet; great-grandchildren: Theodore, Maverick, and Arlo Frenette, Rowen and Knox Avink, and Remilynn Norman; his brother Harry (Kay) Norman, in-laws: Loretta Norman, Gary (Joyce) DeWitt, Mary DeWitt, Donald (Minnie) DeWitt, Nancy (Bob) Haveman, Merle (Sherri) DeWitt, Keith (Mary) DeWitt, and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his brother James Norman, sister Lois "Jean" Leech, and brother-in-law Jack DeWitt.
Private interment will be in Zeeland Cemetery (Original). Visiting hours will be 4:00-7:00 PM, Sunday, December 1, 2024, at the Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th Street, Holland MI 49423.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, December 2, 2024, at Third Reformed Church, 111 W. 13th Street, Holland MI 49423. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Third Reformed Church Mission Memorial Fund.
