Walter Young Obituary

Walter Roger Young, 73, of Wichita passed away on March 4, 2025. Walter was born on February 26, 1952 in Richland, Washington to his parents William A. and Elsie M. Young. Walter worked as an over the road trucker for most of his life. He also served in the United States Army in Vietnam for 5 months. Walter met Tonda and they were married on Feb. 14, 1981 and were together for 15 years until their divorce in 1996. They remained friends and were in contact from time to time until her death on March 25, 2022.
He was preceded in death by parents, William A. Young and Elsie M. Young; former wife and longtime friend, Tonda; brother, William "Bill" Young; and cousins, Walter Beeson, Jerry (Connie) Snider. Survivors include his sister, Janice M (Bob). Schrader; nieces, Theresa (Dustin) Gardner and Valerie (Dustin) Hills; great-nieces and nephews, Christopher Hills, Hailey (Dayton) Knox, Jacob (Molly) Hills, Alexis Gardner, Taylor Hills, and Dylan Hills; and cousins, Richard Claypool, and Donna (Don) Roddy.
The family will be spending time together and would like to invite others to join from 10:00am-12:00pm on Saturday, March 8th at Janice's home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, March 8th at Greenwood Cemetery.
