Wilma Ruth Gulstad, 89, of Columbia, Missouri, passed away on October 9, 2024.
Wilma was born on May 15, 1935, in Oak Park, Illinois, the daughter of William H. and Rita (Harland) Barlow.
She attended Earlham College in Richmond, IN, later obtaining her master's degree from Rosary College, in River Forest, Illinois.
A dedicated professional librarian with a lifelong love of learning, her career was diverse specializing in areas including rare books, law, medical, and cataloger of Western historical manuscripts, retiring from MU as a respected librarian.
Beyond her career she had a passion for genealogy, and reading (Danielle Steele and Tom Clancy). She also enjoyed stamp collecting and cherished time with her family. Known for her big heart, she will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and enduring love for the written word.
Wilma was preceded in death by her husband Daniel Elias Gulstad, her parents, and son-in-law Gary Stephen Faust.
In addition to her husband, Wilma will be sadly missed and forever remembered by her daughter, Rita Gulstad, granddaughter Emilie (Tristan Riggs) Faust, son, William Gulstad, daughter-in-law, Margaret Armstrong, and many other extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Central Methodist University Student Scholarship Fund.
