Joan Dawkins Obituary

Joan Quimby Dawkins, a lifelong resident of Centreville, MD died at the Compass Regional Hospice Center on February 11, 2025.

Born in Easton, MD on November 2, 1937, she was the daughter of Joseph Quimby, Sr. and Helen Larrimore Quimby. Joan was raised in Centreville on Needwood Farm and graduated from Centreville High School in 1955. On April 20, 1957 she married Donald Dawkins at Grace Methodist Church.

Joan worked at the Queen Anne's County Department of Planning and Zoning for many years. She was an active member of the Centreville Methodist Church and served with various community organizations and committees. Joan loved springtime, flowers, farm planting and harvesting seasons and most of all, family.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Donald, son David Dawkins (Theresa), daughter Susan Dawkins Klepper (Buddy); grandchildren Joseph Dawkins (Bryna), Halley Dawkins Neely (Braden), Chase Klepper and Riley Klepper; and great grandchildren Brooks Dawkins, Jackson Dawkins and Maebry Neely.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Joseph Quimby, Jr. and Jay Quimby.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 17, 2025 at 12 noon at the Centreville Methodist Church where friends and family may visit from 4-6 PM on Sunday, February 16, 2025. Burial will be at Chesterfield Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to Centreville Methodist Church, Goodwill Fire Company or Alzheimer's Research Foundation.
