Salvatore Benevento
April 11, 1952 -August 19th 2024
Sadly, Salvatore L. Benevento passed away unexpectedly at the age of 72 on August 19th at St. Raphael Hospital. Born in New Haven on April 11, 1952, Sal was a member of the McKenzie family and lived his entire adult life in Killingworth. He was a well-known member of the community and found employment at several local companies, most notably Clinton Nurseries and later in life for the Town of Killingworth.
Sal was a member of the Killingworth Congregational Church and will be especially missed by his brother, Andrew McKenzie of Old Saybrook, his sister, Marian McKenzie of Ardmore, PA., and niece, Heather and her husband, James Husted of Old Saybrook. He was also close to nieces and nephews, Zaida and William McKenzie and his wife, Alejandra; Grace, Charles, and Thomas McKenzie-Smith; and Alex and Nicholas Husted, as well as his sister-in-law, Tracy McKenzie, and brothers-in-law, Donald Eden and Walter Smith.
Friends and family will be received to remember Sal at Swan Funeral Home in Clinton on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Killingworth Congregational Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
