March 23, 1950 - June 6, 2024

Bellingham, Washington - Born in Ontario, Oregon to parents David and Myla Dennett, Nolan passed away on June 6, 2024 in Bellingham, Washington.

Nolan was inquisitive, an eager student, talented writer, gifted actor and dancer. After graduating from Brigham Young University, he worked professionally as a dancer, choreographer, and teacher retiring from Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington after 32 years on faculty. Nolan received a Fullbright scholarship to Peru to choreograph and teach for the National Ballet. He published his novel, Place of Shelter, and submitted many short stories and articles to various periodicals.

Nolan loved traveling, fishing, camping, and partnered with his brothers as owners and operators of the Sawtooth Lodge at Grandjean, Idaho. He is remembered and respected by many for his years long participation as a foster parent with the Washington State Foster Care system.

Nolan is survived by his brothers, Garland Dennett (Jan) and Gerold Dennett (Greg), along with his loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother Milton (Michelle) Dennett.

The family will hold a private burial in Caldwell, Idaho and ask you consider honoring Nolan's legacy by donating in his name to https://alumniq.wwu.edu/giving/to/dance.

Deeply saddened to learn about Nolan's passing. Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of assisting him with his charming Airbnb. Nolan's passion for dance was truly inspiring. He was a wonderful host, and his guests adored his infectious personality.

Beyond dance, Nolan was a creative soul with a thirst for expression. He once mentioned working on a personal project that held deep meaning for him. Knowing his dedication, I believe it would be a remarkable discovery if it could be found.

If anyone from Nolan's family sees this, I'd be honored to assist in uncovering any hidden gems of his creative work. He said he had worked on a manuscript for the last 40 years, and I think I know how you can find it. I am so sorry to everyone who knew and loved Nolan, I enjoyed our time we spent working together and honor all the blessings he brought to our collective shared world experiences.
