William Hennessey Obituary

William T. Hennessey Jr.
March 6, 2025
William T. Hennessey Jr. ("Bill") of Sunrise, Florida and Cairo, New York, passed away on March 6, 2025. He was a proud and loving father to his children, Dawn Graber and William T. Hennessey III (Catherine), whom he shared with his former spouse and friend, Virginia Hennessey, grandfather and "Poppy" to his grandchildren, Christine, Ashley, Cameron, Molly, Jillian, and Wesley, brother to Victorine (James Noel) and Daniel Hennessey, and loving partner to Audrey Schaffnit. Bill graduated from Hillhouse High School in New Haven, Connecticut and started work as a computer programmer right out of high school. He was an avid hunter and world traveler. He was always quick to share a good story and wise counsel--- but most of all he was a loyal, dependable friend to many. He valued friendship above all. Bill spent much of his career as a systems analyst for the School Board of Broward County. He was a proud and honored Board Member of BrightStar Credit Union for more than 40 years, where he made a lifetime of memories and friends. Services will be held on March 15, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Family Church Gardens. A celebration of life reception will follow at 548 Anchorage Drive, North Palm Beach, Florida. All are invited. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Bill's honor to the Broward Education Foundation ( www.browardedfoundation.org ), which has established the William T. Hennessey Jr. Scholarship Fund for the benefit of students seeking a career in technology and computer programming.
