William Dove Obituary

William "Bill" Arthur Dove, Jr. peacefully passed away on Monday July 15, 2024. He was 93. He was three weeks shy of his 94th birthday. He was a resident of Corralitos, CA.

Bill was born on August 5,1930 to his parents William Dove Sr. and Mae Esther Souder.
Bill was an Army Veteran and served in the U.S. Army 1st Infantry Division. Bill also worked as a PG&E gas man in the Watsonville and Santa Cruz area for over 30 years.

He was a Corralitos Padre and served his community for over 60 years. He was a volunteer firefighter in Corralitos. Bill enjoyed being outdoors and was an avid fisherman, hunter, camper, and hiker (in his younger days). He fished everywhere he could, with Burney Falls being one of his favorite areas. He spent over 40 years making yearly trips to Gillette, Wyoming and Eagles Nest, New Mexico for antelope and elk hunting as well as to the California Sierras for deer hunting. He was very proud of his hunts and enjoyed displaying his successes. Bill was a master gardener and always had fabulous gardens that could feed everyone. Bill enjoyed reading and he always had a book around. He was a prankster, the fun ringleader, and loved Halloween. His legendary ice cream parties are usually the first thing a Corralitos resident reminisces about. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family. He was especially proud of all his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his longtime partner, Paula Waugaman; ex-wife, Elizabeth Wetherell; sibling, Evelyn Nash; and children Debra Dove (Rich), Darlene Fraher (Jeff), Desiree Hamamoto (Monte), Bill Dove (Lisa), plus his bonus kids, Gary Waugaman (Kara) and Karen Waugaman (Allan). He was beloved by his grandchildren Dustin Goldman (Erica), Ryan Masterson (Marcella), Rachael Masterson (Kevin), Ben Fraher, Sarah Gambucci (Ryan), Katryn Parent (Chris), Elizabeth Richards (Joshua), Briana Hardman (Alex), Addison Dove, David Bishop, Julia Bishop Orozco (Chris), and Kelsey Waugaman. A source of great pride were his great grandchildren Emerson, Isabel, Alyssandra, Nico, Keira, Gabriella, and Christopher.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 20,2024 at the Corralitos Community Center. More information is to follow.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Corralitos Padres.

The family is eternally grateful to De Un Amor and the staff for all the care they provided to our Pop. His last few years of living at De Un Amor were filled with fabulous care, storytelling, laughter and fun.

My condolences to the whole family. Lived across the road and a short walk from them for most of my childhood. Loved the ice cream parties and Halloween events! I fondly remember the wonderful backyard animals rabbits, horses (Prince and Bosco), the bullfrog in the bathtub out back. Played Grey Ghost around the house at night, sleep overs in the barn with Bill Jr. Going fishing with both Bills at Pinto Lake. A great man. Great times!

I have early fond memories of camping with Bill and family in the central sierras at Gaggs camp. I rode up with them a few times in his old car modified so us kids could crawl around in the back seat/trunk. He and my dad really enjoyed swapping hunting stories. My love for the outdoors and wildlife started back then and never left. He was a very kind man who always had a smile to share. The full rich life he lived shows how much he was loved and will be missed.
