John Hepler Obituary

John Harold Hepler, 90, of Ridgway, formerly of Spring Church, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025 in UPMC- Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh.

Born January 11, 1935 in Vandergrift, he was a son of the late Donald Hepler & Iva (Learn) Hepler.

John proudly served our country with the United States Army, and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal. He was employed as a maintenance manager at NUMEC, and later worked in a similar position at Longview Country Club.

John was a great father and very loving pap. He enjoyed the outdoors, including fishing, hunting, working in the yard, and chopping firewood. John was a part of the Island Run Fish Hatchery in Ridgway for many years. He was a jack-of-all-trades, very handy and could fix anything. John was an avid football fan, especially the Steelers, and had a passion for playing cards, and could outplay anyone even at the impressive age of 89.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Helen (Dickey) Hepler, who passed away on July 5, 2024; oldest son, Randy Hepler; and a grandson, Carson Hepler; and his siblings.

John is survived by his sister, Nancy Johnston; son, Curtis Hepler; daughters, Pam Hepler, Lisa (Jerry) Stokes, Linda (Shawn Ronian) Hepler; grandchildren, Nathan Hepler, Andrea (Chad) Vincent, Jennifer Hepler, Ashley Hepler, Mitchell Hepler, Joshua Spix, Kathryn Biondo, Zack Stokes, Hannah Stokes; and several great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received in the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo, on Friday, January 24, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. until the Celebration Of Life Tribute Service at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
