Brian Lobdell Obituary

Brian David Lobdell, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and educator, died peacefully at home surrounded by his immediate family on December 8th, 2023. He was born to Frederick and Marion (Primo) Lobdell on February 16, 1934. Brain was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Glenn (Lobdell) Smith and his son David Lobdell. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Joanne (DeMadonna) Lobdell, his daughters Karen (Paul Burnham) Lobdell of Williamstown, MA, Sarah Seaverns of Plymouth, MA, son Daniel (Nancy Weissberg) Lobdell of Lancaster, PA, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In 1989, Brian retired after a 30 year career teaching mathematics at Mount Greylock Regional High School and the old Williamstown High School. He was a skilled carpenter who dedicated his time and talents to building wooden boats and volunteering with Habitat for Humanity. He loved boats and was a member of the power squadron in both Berkshire County and on Cape Cod. A life long lover of music, Brian was a talented instrumentalist and vocalist. From 1962 to 1989 he performed with the Barber Shop Quartet "The Educators" formed with three of his fellow teachers. They entertained audiences at many local events and fundraisers. His kind and gentle manner will be missed. There will be a celebration of his life for his family and close friends in 2024.
