Robert Baker Obituary

Mr. Robert William "Bob" Baker, age 92, lifelong resident of Lindale, GA, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2025, at his son's residence.

Mr. Baker was born in Lindale, GA, on November 22, 1932, son of the late William Clarence Baker and the late Vera West Baker. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Margaret Ann Marion Baker, and by his 2 sisters, Juanita Baker Sealock and Carolyn Baker Carver. Mr. Baker was a graduate of McHenry High School and worked numerous years as an employer representative for the Georgia Department of Labor before his retirement. After retirement, he worked for 15 years at the Sara Hightower Regional library where he relished in talking to and assisting visitors. Mr. Baker was extremely proud of Lindale. He coached youth sports for many years and was fascinated with the history and people of Lindale. His family was everything to him. Mr. Baker is a 1st ballot Hall of Fame granddad, always making sure he was at every event in which his grandsons participated. He was an avid sports fan and could be found watching whenever he had the opportunity. Mr. Baker was a faithful member of Second Avenue United Methodist Church, where he taught the "Jesse Dempsey" Sunday School class, and is now rejoicing in the Lord's presence for eternity.

Survivors include his son, Phil Baker (Patty), Rome; 3 grandsons, Brennan Baker, Dylan Baker, and Jesse Baker (Jenna); a great-grandson, Jonah Byrd Baker; and a nephew, Steve Carver (Tammy).

Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Monday, April 21, 2025, at Second Avenue United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rick Maeser officiating and Mr. Barry Henderson delivering the eulogy. Private interment will take place in Rome Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 12pm until the services at 2pm at Second Avenue United Methodist Church.

Pallbearers are to assemble by 1:30pm on Monday at Second Avenue United Methodist Church and include: Phil Baker, Brennan Baker, Dylan Baker, Jesse Baker, and Steve Carver.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Second Avenue United Methodist Church, 801 E. Second Avenue, Rome, GA 30161.

Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, is honored to serve the family of Mr. Robert William "Bob" Baker.

I am sorry to hear of Bob's passing. I remember how devoted Bob was in Lindale to baseball and Phil in everything he did. He loved being involved anyway he could and he had a lot of knowledge about Pepperell sports. I enjoyed talking sports with him. I am sure he will be missed. God bless his family.
