I did not know Mrs. Dempsey. Her son, Father Ed Dempsey, is a most respected Roman Catholic Priest. He is now retired, but speaks during the Mass at many churches in the Norwich Diocese. There is great anticipation, when it is known he will be speaking. We give thanks to her for bringing a son up with such clear thinking faith, wisdom, and history of the Church. Would she have brought up ten more of the likes of him to teach the Faith.

I remember your mother and father well. Whenever my family was in there company we were treated as family. I remember once my dad brought home a pair of shoes that were hers. They no longer fit her and she wanted me to have them. I thought I was so special. You wonder how I acquired them. For the 10 years your father was in office my Dad was by his side day and night,as with each one of you. Sharing my dad with you all was an honor. He was Charlie Rust. Thanks for some wonderful memories Mrs. Dempsey. Test in peace.

A funny encounter - I met her just once, and she stood up for me:
I was a part timer HS student working for G Fox, at the 1st flr Men's Shirt and Pajama counter. Mrs Dempsey was purchasing a set of PJ's for the Gov, priced $25 [196x dollars ~ $100+ today].
1st, she said she couldn't decide between 2 pair - I suggested she buy both! She said "good idea". [meanwhile, the floor mgr was 20' away, having a cardiac moment at my audacity!].
2nd, she pulls out this metal tag, like a military dog tag, which was a "charge card". But it was a State of CT charge, without her name. So I requested her personal ID [license]. She happily complied. [store mgr had his 2nd cardiac event]. All was well. the transaction was approved by the senior sales lady monitoring me. I boxed both/etc, and she moved on.
Well, the floor mgr comes rushing over, and starts giving me the "what the h***", the supervisor is trying to defend me but it is the 60's [male mgr vs female sales lady].
Mrs Dempsey hadn't gone far, returned, and "pleasantly" informed the flr mgr how excellently I did my job, and hoped Mrs Auerbach hired many like me!.
60 yrs later, still a stellar memory for me !!!
