IRENE F. DROLEMA, 87, of Morrison, IL, died Monday, July 15, 2024, at Homestead of Morrison.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 19, 2024, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, with Rev. J.T. Bean, pastor of Ebenezer Reformed Church, officiating. A visitation will precede the service starting at 12:00 PM until the time of the funeral. Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison. A memorial has been established.
Irene was born September 19, 1936, in Morrison, IL, to George and Grace (Dykema) Drolema. She was educated in the Morrison Grade Schools and was a 1954 graduate of Morrison High School. Irene was employed at Herman Nelson for 12 years and then at Bull, Ludens and Potter Attorney's office for 33 years. A lifelong member of Ebenezer Reformed Church, Irene participated in the church choir and Bible study groups. She was also actively involved in preparing funeral lunches at the church and sang in the cantata at Emmanuel Church. Dedicated to community service, Irene volunteered with AARP, assisting with income taxes, and also knitting baby caps for Genesis Hospital. Irene enjoyed going on walks and had a passion for traveling, which she shared with her sister, Cornelia. Together, they visited all 50 states. She was also a member of the Quad Cities Plus 60 Club in Davenport, IA.
Survivors include her sister, Cornelia of Morrison, IL; one niece, Sandra (Lyle) Bushman of Milledgeville, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Catherine Engelkens and Geraldine Penticoft; one niece, Janice Engelkens.
