Salley, South Carolina - Nell (Tarrant) Able, 88, widow of Chester "Jack" Able, passed away on September 4, 2024. She was born to the late John Benson Tarrant and the late Ola Hughes Tarrant in Orangeburg County, SC on May 29, 1936. She attended and graduated from Springfield High School. She retired from SCE&G after 35 years of service in 1995. After retirement, Nell volunteered at the Methodist Oaks in Orangeburg, SC for 20 years.

Surviving are her daughters, Rachel (Robbie) Scurry, Lisa (Dick) Locke, and Rebecca Rutherford; sister, Jean Toole; and sister-in-law, Janet Tarrant. Her grandchildren are Travis, Jared, and Justin Scurry, Chris Jenkins, Joey and Kav Rutherford, Hannah Locke Turner, and Gavin and Kelby Kenner. Great-grandchildren are Maddox, Molly-Kate, Annabelle, Bryson, Hunter, Monroe, Metta, and Leo. She is also survived by her close friends, Gary and Monnie Romines, Clint and Donna Black, and Jane Livingston.

She was also predeceased by her husband, Jack; and her son, Kavie Rutherford; and her siblings, John Tarrant, Mary Stone, and Wyatt Tarrant.

A Celebration of Christian Life Service to be held at Salley Baptist Church at 4 p.m., on Saturday, September 7, 2024. Visitation will be one hour prior to service in the church fellowship hall. Pallbearers are her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Felder, Jerry Griswold, John Hiers, William Sasser, Larry Tankersley, and Ronnie Williamson. Burial will be private.

The family would like to thank the staff of Bells Caregivers, Lexington Extended Care, Lexington Medical Center, and Amedisys Hospice Care.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to Salley Baptist Church, PO Box 442, Salley, SC 29137.
