Rose Porter Obituary
2/6/1955 - 5/4/2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our sister, Rose L. Porter, 70, formerly of Toledo, Ohio; Escondido, CA; and Golden Valley, AZ.
Rose was born on February 6, 1955, to Pedro and Angelina Lopez. She passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2025.
A proud graduate of her beloved DeVilbiss High School, Rose traveled home many times to attend reunions. Her last one being the 50th in 2023.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Porter (U.S. Navy); her last love, Dean West; and her dogs, Cooper and Sparky.
Rose loved gardening and planted an assortment of vegetables and flowers in her home in California and Arizona. Rose worked through college and met Charles in one of those jobs (VFW). Rose graduated from California State University San Marcos with a bachelor's degree in psychology. After their marriage, Rose and Charles loved traveling and took many road trips. Unfortunately, Charles was diagnosed with cancer and lost the battle after a lengthy illness.
Sometime after Charles' death, Rose found love again with Dean West, an English chap who immigrated from Lewisham, England. Dean was a General Contractor and with Rose started a renovation and home improvement business.
Rose and Dean worked together on many home improvement projects for their customers. Their last project was a kitchen renovation for their own home in Golden Valley, AZ. The project was coming together when Dean was diagnosed with brain cancer. Unfortunately, Dean lost his battle before the kitchen could be completed. With courage and determination Rose completed the kitchen shortly after receiving her own cancer diagnosis.
Rose is survived by all her siblings, and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Casa de Lopez, 2551 Parkwood, Toledo, OH 43610, at 2 p.m.
