Danny "Poppy" Helton, born on June 29, 1958, in Harlan, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at his residence on January 9, 2025. He was a devoted family man, known for his unwavering love and dedication to those closest to him. Professionally, Mr. Helton was a skilled welder, contributing his talents to Lee Steel throughout his career. Danny was not only a talented hands-on worker but also a firm believer in the Name of Jesus Faith, guiding his life through the principles of faith and family. Those who knew him described him as embodying the qualities of kindness and integrity, often prioritizing the happiness and well-being of his loved ones above all else.
He is survived by his loving companion, Donna Griffith; his son, Dan Ray Helton; and his daughters, Kaley (Kevin) Osborne and Megan Helton. Danny also leaves behind a cherished group of grandchildren: Karlee Osborne, Jasmine Osborne, Aubrey Helton, Annisa Peace, DJ Peace, Hope Helton, and Aiden Helton, whom he loved like a son. Also, surviving are three special nieces, Jessica Helton, Erica North and Angel Ayers Mclean, a host of other relatives and friends.
Danny's legacy lives on through his siblings, who include brothers Ricky Helton, Gary Helton, David Helton, Bruce Helton, Shelby Helton, and Leroy Helton, as well as sisters Lisa Helton, Shirley Norman, Brenda Middleton, Susie Napier, Diane Slusher, and Alice Miller.
He was preceded in death by his father, Luther Helton, and his mother, Anna Rainey Helton; sister, Bonnie Helton, and brothers Bobby Helton, Don Ray (Duck) Helton, and James Helton; niece, Ashley North and two grandchildren, Timothy Dean and Robin Dean; a Special Friend, Lynn Bailey who have welcomed him into eternal peace.
Danny "Poppy" Helton will be deeply missed by his family and friends, who will carry forward his spirit of love, faith, and togetherness. His memory will forever remain a guiding light in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.
A visitation will be held from 12PM to 3PM on Thursday, January 16, 2025 in the Chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 3PM with Burial following at Evarts Memorial Gardens. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers.
