Ellen Smith Obituary

Ellen R. Smith was born January 9, 1940 in Warsaw Township, Rice County, MN to Zeldia (Farnam) and Andrew Christensen. She grew up and helped on her aunt's farm in Mille Lacs County, MN. She was employed at Milaca Elim Meadows Health Care Center for about 20 years in the housekeeping department. On September 10 2005, she married Everett Smith at River View Park in Milaca, MN. In 2011, Everett and Ellen moved to Wabasha, MN.

She enjoyed gardening, canning, her dogs Billy and Louie, car rides and visiting family and friends. She and Everett could be seen at different homes, mowing and maintaining yards.

She is survived by her husband Everett; stepchildren Dale Smith, Eugene (Ann) Smith, Evelyn (Dale) Leitz, Everett Smith Jr., Betty Jo (Mark) Seagren, and Carol Jean "Piper" Magnuson; numerous step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; and a brother Richard "Dick" Christenson and Dick's wife Renee, residing in Las Vegas, NV; as well as cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Ida, Andrew, and Francis; and stepsons Gary Joe Smith and Michael Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Abbott Funeral Home, Wabasha. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. before the memorial service, at the funeral home. Interment will be at a later date.
