Ann Heidgerd Obituary
Anna Maria "Ann Marie" Heidgerd (1964 - 2025)
It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Ann Marie Heidgerd. Ann Marie died in her sleep at her home in Souderton, PA on February 1, 2025. Her husband, the Rev. John Heidgerd, was lying next to her when she passed. Ann Marie and John were married for over 38 years, and each loved the other deeply with a love that was unmatched in their devotion to each other and to their sons, Tyler and Davin.
Ann Marie was born in Dobbs Ferry, NY on January 20, 1964 to Anna (Gemma) and Paolo D'Angelo. She grew up in Dobbs Ferry and graduated from Dobbs Ferry High School in 1982. After graduation, Ann Marie worked for the Grand Union Supermarket in Dobbs Ferry. It was there she and her future husband John fell in love, and were married on July 19, 1986 at Our Lady of Pompeii Church. She continued to work at the Grand Union, and then at the Journal News in White Plains NY until her son Tyler was born in 1990, when she became a stay-at-home mom. A second son, Davin, was born in 1994.
Ann Marie, John and the family lived in Hartsdale, NY from 1987-1998, when they moved to their first home in Endwell, NY. They relocated to Bedford Hills, NY in 2001. Upon John's call to pastoral ministry, they moved to Souderton, PA in 2019.
Church and children were Ann Marie's passions throughout her life. Ann Marie was an active member at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bronx, NY until their move to Endwell, NY where they joined Our Saviour Lutheran Church and became an active member there. In 2001, Ann Marie joined Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Mount Kisco, NY. In addition to being active in many aspects of church life, Ann Marie joined the office staff and became a teacher's aide at the Little Blessings pre-school, where she served until moving to Souderton in 2019.
When her husband John was ordained into pastoral ministry in 2017, she became a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Jamaica Queens where she rejuvenated the Sunday's KIDS ministry and the youth ministry at the church. She and John moved to Souderton in 2019 where she became a member at Emmanuel Lutheran Church where John was called to be the pastor. At Emmanuel, she again revitalized a children's ministry. She worked for a time at Salford Mennonite Child Care before leaving that position during the Covid-19 pandemic of 2020 to develop a new anti-hunger ministry at Emmanuel. Known as the E-Meal Ministry, Ann Marie led a rapid and sizable growth in serving the community. In less than 5 years under her leadership, the program has provided over 750,000 meals to families in need in the community. Ann Marie was at first reluctant to take on the role of a pastor's wife, but she became the perfect example of one through her support and love for her church families.
Ann Marie was a deeply loving person who gave of herself to everyone she met. She had a bright smile which radiated her loving spirit. She became very well-known and respected in Souderton for her community work, her generous spirit and her joyful presence. She touched many lives and will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Ann Marie and John were an inseparable couple, each the perfect match for the other and it showed in all their interactions with family, friends, church members and community connections. They shared so much joy in each other's company and their love for each other will never end.
Ann Marie is survived by her husband John, and sons Tyler (Lindsay) of Elmsford, NY and Davin of Tuscon, AZ. She is also survived by her mother Anna D'Angelo, sister Sandra Pangerl, niece Jessica Summers (Grey) and nephew Michael Pangerl (Gina Marie) of Dobbs Ferry, NY, and sisters-in-law Karen Heidgerd and Deborah Holcombe of Yonkers, NY.
