Died: November 8, 2024 in Sterling, IL
Danny N. Nelson, 61, of Sterling, IL, died Friday, November 8, 2024 at Rock River Hospice & Home, Sterling, IL. Visitation will be from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm Wednesday, November 13, 2024 with Funeral Services beginning at 1:00 pm, all at Gibson – Bode Funeral Home, Erie, IL. Burial will be in the Erie Cemetery.
Danny was born November 16, 1962 in Moline, IL, the son of Norman and Dixie (Henrichs) Nelson. He grew up in Erie and attended Bi-County School where he graduated in 1984. He lived at home with the help of his parents for much of his life while working at Self Help Enterprises in Sterling. He enjoyed riding his bike around the neighborhood as a youth and the community was always there to watch out for him.
In 2004 he became a resident at Oakwood Cila and in 2020 he moved to Exceptional Care, both in Sterling. In all, he spent over 35 years at Self Help Enterprises. He liked to pick on people around him in good fun.
Danny is survived by his sister, Pamela Henderson, Davenport, IA; niece, Erica Henderson; and nephew, Matthew Henderson. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jeff Nelson and brother-in-law, Eric Henderson. Share a memory or condolence at www.gibsonbodefh.com
