Robert Lidberg Obituary

Robert P. Lidberg

September 6, 1945 - March 25, 2025

Robert P. Lidberg, 79 year old resident of Wabasha, Minn., formerly of Winona, Minn., passed away March 25, 2025, at St. Elizabeth's Health Care Center in Wabasha.

Robert was born on September 6, 1945, in Browerville, Minn., to Adolph and Helen Lidberg. He graduated from St. Felix High School with the class of 1964. After high school graduation, he served in the U.S. Air Force from 1964-1968 and retired as a sergeant. He went on to further his education at Winona State University. In 1970 he joined the Army National Guard serving until 1978. Throughout his years in Winona, he was employed at Westfield Golf Course, the Hot Fish Shop, Elks Club, the American Legion, and HyVee Wine and Spirits.

Robert was a lifetime member of The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Winona where he was an usher and spent many hours at Eucharistic Adoration. He was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. He lived his faith by helping others in need. He will be remembered for his kindness, his quick smile, and quiet gentle way of listening and responding to others. Although he remained single, he was always there for family gatherings with his mom, siblings, nieces, and nephews.

Bob was a good card player. He was a member of the Elks Club where he enjoyed socializing and playing 500, euchre, cribbage, and even bingo. At the Health Care Center, he earned the title of Bingo Bob. In his healthier years, Robert enjoyed being on a bowling league and golfing with family and friends.

Robert is survived by his siblings, Rosanne (Gary) Wodele, Rachael (James) Larson, Dale (Donna) Lidberg, Mary (Lewis) Hackett; sisters-in-law, Audrey Lidberg, Mary Lidberg Schalk, and Nancy Lidberg; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Peter and Charles; his twin brother, Richard; and half-sister, Cynthia Kern.

Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at 11 a.m. at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will take place at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston, Minn., later this spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Gundersen St. Elizabeth Health Care Center, St. Croix Hospice, or the Wabasha Area Food Shelf.
