Keith Johns Obituary

LITTLE FALLS - Keith "Kotchie" Walter Johns passed away unexpectedly, on July 28, 2024. He was born on September 5, 1972, in Little Falls, New York, son of Katherine and Barry Johns. He attended Little Falls High School where he was on the wrestling team, the start of the Johns brothers' presence on the Mountie mats. He graduated in the Class of 1990 and then went on to SUNY Cobleskill to earn a Bachelor's degree in Plant Science, in 1994. Throughout his education he was careful not to let academics interfere with his pursuit of a good time, as his classmates and friends can attest. After graduating college, he held numerous jobs in the farming and agricultural field. When he moved to Wisconsin he worked as an operating engineer in the drilling, mining and commercial sectors and most recently was employed as a commercial truck driver for a dairy farm. Keith lived in quite a few places during his time on this Earth, including New York, New Hampshire, Wisconsin and had recently moved back to Little Falls to live with family. Anyone who knew Keith knows how much fun he was to be around. To know him was to love him, if ever that cliche applied it's to Keith. He was warm, gregarious and genuinely kind, qualities which shone through in his ability to charm and relate to anyone in his orbit. He was generous to a fault, quick to put others before himself. He was also one of the funniest guys you'd ever meet. He made everyone laugh. Keith was a storyteller. Sometimes rambling, often unfit for publication, mostly true, always funny, his stories were quintessential Keith and he would want us to continue to share them and laugh. Above all else Keith was a devoted father to his daughter, Sophia Johns, whom he loved more than anything. She was his light, his purpose, his heart and soul, a constant source of pride and joy. His greatest wish was for her to know how much he loved her. Keith's family was foremost in his life. He has a large, close-knit extended family who loved him deeply and are grateful to have had him in their lives. He also made a wide circle of friends throughout the years who will dearly miss his unique character, spirit and humor. Keith is survived by his beloved daughter, Sophia Johns; his mother, Katherine Johns; his five siblings: Celene Rogers (Ned), Matthew Johns (Michele), Luke Johns (Toni-Anne), Blaise Johns (Erin) and Katy Johns (Aimee); and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Barry Johns; and his cousin, James "Jimmy" Zysk. A Funeral Mass honoring Keith's life will take place on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at Holy Family Parish, in Little Falls, NY, followed by a reception at the Elks Lodge in Little Falls for those wishing to continue the celebration of his life and memory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 108 Ravine Pkwy, Oneonta, NY 13820. Keith's funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Enea Family Funeral Home, Little Falls, NY, Enea, Ciaccia & Applegate Funeral Directors (315) 823-2424.
