Betty Drew Obituary

Betty Jean (Schlotthauer) Drew, born March 12, 1931, entered into the joy of her Savior on December 10, 2025, with the love of her family.

Betty, a Mom, Grandma, and "GG", grew up on a farm with her parents and three siblings, Peggy, Nancy, and Jerry. She remembers working in the fields of beets, corn, and beans. In high school she enjoyed singing, even taking part in an operetta.

Betty graduated from Fort Morgan High School and worked as a bookkeeper for Tieman Bros Grocery Store – selected after the managers asked the accounting department to recommend the best people in the class. Betty lived with her grandparents in town at that time so that she could walk to work. Betty's Grandmother only spoke German and her Grandfather spoke three languages: German, Russian, and English. That time together helped Betty expand her own ability to speak German.

Betty married Delbert Drew at age 20 and celebrated 63 years of marriage together. Early on Del promised they'd travel … but what he meant was they'd move around a lot while he travelled in conjunction with his job – 12 cities in five different states!

In addition to raising four children (Larry, John, Shelly, and Robert) she loved singing in church choir, flowers, bridge, bowling, and all kinds of volunteer work.

Betty's kids remember camping in the Sand Dunes when sleeping bags and coats got left behind but having fun anyway. Cooking and eating cabbage pockets, butterballs, & family picnics. You could always count on MORE than enough food! Fourth of July fireworks with cousins in winter coats & one unforgettable year a pop-bottle rocket landed in the main box of fireworks, adding to the show along with so many more wonderful family times.

Betty's grandkids have fond memories of the campground with a doll named George, crafts like making clay, whistling with a curled tongue, adventures at the cabin in Allenspark and learning that "ornery" actually has an 'r' in the word. "Warsh" still doesn't though. Grandma would teach us her family recipes and taught us to cook by the feel of the dish.

Betty is survived by two children, six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. She is preceded and rejoins her husband Delbert, two sons John & Robert, and grandson Daniel.

Betty's celebration of life will be at 11am, Saturday February 21, 2026, followed by a light lunch at First Congregational Church of Greeley 2101 16th Street, Greeley, CO 80631. The family welcomes your company as being with people was one of Betty's favorite activities.
